We enjoyed the time we were able to spend with the family. Hannah was such a cutie.

After the cowboy symposium, we went to Jonathan and Christine's house to watch the kids while they attended a ministry conference. This was the first time we had seen the kids new house. It was very nice.
While there we took Levi & Haven for a walk along a nearby path.
The kids enjoyed the walk, but tired out before the end of the walk which was approx. 2 miles.
The fall colors were out.
Michael gave a helping hand when the kids got tired.
We had breakfast Sunday at the Rocking Double R chuckwagon. They served eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy and bacon.
Here the biscuits are ready from the hot coals.
Before our chuckwagon lunch we checked out other chuckwagons. Here we saw a child's version of the chuckwagon. The kids were pretending to cook like their parents. Notice the water barrel on the side of the wagon.
Haven was able to ride a horse during our wait for lunch.
Michael was also able to ride.
Hannah just enjoyed hanging around with daddy.
Haven and Levi had their faces painted. They both choose a unicorn/horse theme.
The kids also tried their hands a leather crafting. They had their initials stamped into a leather fob.
Our lunch was provided by "Cocklebur Camp". The food was very good. Cocklebur Camp came in third in the meat catagory of the competition.
The meal consisted of meat, mashed potatoes and gravy, beans, biscuit and apricot cobbler.
After lunch Haven was able to climb aboard a mule.
Michael was the new sheriff in town.
We took a side trip to see the Three Rivers Petroglyphs. Three Rivers is located half way between Carrizozo and Alamogordo along U.S. Hwy. 54. We had to do some hiking to see the sights. Michael had to be the leader.
The circle and dot motif is prevalent at Three Rivers. It is related to the mythical god of the early indians "Quetzalcoatl". Or the dots represent corn or a population count.
This is probably the best known and photographed petroglyph at Three Rivers. It appears to be a bighorn sheep. Notice the three arrows.
Face was done on the rock in such a way as to give it a three dimensional effect.
This appears to be a man doing his happy dance around a local pine tree. That is just my interpretation and not the official explanation.
Half way thru to hike we found a shelter to rest and take a break.
We visited the Smokey the Bear Museum in Capitan.
There was a nice garden area with local flora and fauna. Here is the original Smokey's final resting place.
Smokey was listed as a federal employee and collected a federal employee retirement.

This year for the Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium we rented a cabin and Jonathan and Christine and family meet us and we all had a great time. This was the cabin we rented.
The name of the cabin was "Almost Heaven".
It was good to see the grandkids Haven and Levi.
Even Michael was glad to see them.
The first night we went to dinner at a bar-b-q place we had seen on previous visits. It was really good food.
Hannah was getting an early start with the cowboy theme of the weekend.

Mary found plenty of birds and deer to photograph. This woodpecker provided a gentle tap-tap during the day.
The deer were plentiful.
The cabin provided plenty of room for everyone.
